Purpose of the Grant

The Rotary Club of Rocky Mount Community Grant is designed to support nonprofit organizations within the locality that are working to improve quality of life, strengthen community resources, and address identified needs.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit or a public service agency operating within the locality (school, parks and rec.). Proposed projects must directly benefit residents of the community served by the Rocky Mount Rotary Club.

Projects must align with at least one Rotary area of focus, such as:

Maternal and child health
Disease prevention and health promotion
Basic education and literacy
Community and economic development
Supporting the environment

Organizations may submit more than one application per grant cycle, but only one would be funded. However, there may be opportunities for additional partnerships with the club.

Funding Structure

Historically, grants have been awarded in amounts ranging from $500 to $10,000.

We encourage applicants to request the amount needed to successfully complete their project. Final award amounts will be determined based on available funding and potential partnership opportunities.

Funds may be used for:

Program supplies and materials
Outreach and engagement
Training or educational activities
Small equipment purchases
Direct service delivery

Funds may not be used for:

Salaries or ongoing operational expenses
Debt reduction
Political or religious activities
Fundraising events

Applicants must provide:

A brief project description, including goals and expected community impact
A clear budget showing both Rotary funds and any other contributions
A timeline for implementation
A statement of how success will be measured

Reporting Expectations

A short midyear update (if applicable)
A final report summarizing:
- Activities completed
- Number of community members served
- Outcomes achieved
- How Rotary funds were used
- Photos or testimonials are encouraged when appropriate

Selection Criteria

Projects will be evaluated based on:

Community need and relevance
Feasibility and clarity of the plan
Strength of the organization’s capacity
Sustainability of impact
Alignment with Rotary values and areas of focus
